Privacy policy
Short, because this site does very little with your data.
What we collect
Only what you type into the contact form: your name, your email address, and your message. Nothing else on this site asks you for information, and there is no account to create.
Why we collect it
To reply to you. Messages are stored in this site's content management system, which only Anita can sign into, and are kept until they are no longer needed to answer your question.
Server logs
The web server records requests — IP address, page, browser, timestamp — as almost every server does. These are used to keep the site running and to investigate errors, and are not used to build a profile of you.
Visitor statistics
This site counts visits using Umami, which runs on our own server at analytics.lakeescapestravel.com — the numbers never leave this site, and no advertising or analytics company receives them. It sets no cookies and keeps no IP address. It records which page was opened, which site linked you here, and broad details like country, browser and screen size. Nothing in it identifies you or links one visit to the next.
What we do not do
There are no comments, no user accounts, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no mailing list, and no third-party JavaScript. Nothing on this site follows you to another one.
Images and embedded content
Photographs are served from this site's own domain. Pages do not embed content from other websites, so no other site can set cookies through them.
Booking and planning
Booking a trip happens on A Burke Trip, a separate site with its own privacy policy. Following a link there hands you off to that site; anything you share once you arrive is covered by their terms, not these.
Getting your data removed
Ask, and your message will be deleted. Use the contact form or reply to any email from Anita Burke. It comes off the site the same day. The nightly backups it already appears in are kept for two weeks and then deleted automatically, so a copy can linger there that long — and no longer.
The visitor statistics are a different matter, and it is worth being straight about why. They hold no name, no email address, no IP address and no identifier that lasts beyond the page you are reading — so there is no row in them that belongs to you, and nothing anyone could look up if you asked. That is the point of collecting them that way: not that a deletion request would be refused, but that there is nothing to delete.
