Privacy policy
Short, because this site does very little with your data.
What we collect
Only what you type into the contact form: your name, your email address, and your message. Nothing else on this site asks you for information, and there is no account to create.
Why we collect it
To reply to you. Messages are stored in this site's content management system, which only Anita can sign into, and are kept until they are no longer needed to answer your question.
Server logs
Like almost every web server, ours records each request: the IP address, page, browser and time. We use these logs to keep the site running and to investigate errors, never to build a profile of you.
Visitor statistics
This site counts visits using Umami, which runs on our own server at analytics.lakeescapestravel.com. The numbers never leave this site, and no advertising or analytics company receives them. Umami sets no cookies and keeps no IP address. It records which page was opened, which site linked you here, and broad details such as country, browser and screen size. Nothing in it identifies you or links one visit to the next.
What we do not do
This site has no comments, user accounts, advertising, tracking pixels, mailing list or third-party JavaScript. Nothing on it follows you to another site.
Images and embedded content
Photographs are served from this site's own domain. Pages do not embed content from other websites, so no other site can set cookies through them.
Booking and planning
Trips are booked on A Burke Trip, a separate site with its own privacy policy. Anything you share after following a link there is covered by that site's policy, not this one.
Getting your data removed
Ask, and your message will be deleted. Use the contact form or reply to any email from Anita Burke. It comes off the site the same day. Copies in the nightly backups are deleted automatically after two weeks.
Deletion doesn’t apply to the visitor statistics, because they hold no name, email address, IP address or identifier that lasts beyond the page you are reading. No record in them belongs to you, so there is nothing to look up or delete.
